The Theatre Dance Association proudly presents the 2012 "So You Think You Can Dance" Convention.

The winner of 2011 SYTYCD, Melanie Moore, Stephen "tWitch" Boss, Allison Holker will all be there, and shall be accompanied by the "Broadway Baby", Jess LeProto (pending confirmation).

The convention takes place on 24 & 25 March 2012 in Cape Town.

The third Cape Town International Ballet Competition (CTIBC) has announced an impressive jury for the 2012 competition which takes place in Cape Town from 27 February to 4 March.  The  panel includes Kevin O’Hare, director-designate of The Royal Ballet who takes up his appointment as director of the legendary British ballet company later this year.

The Cape Town City Ballet will be performing Two Ballets at the Maynardville Open-Air Theatre, situated in Maynardville Park, Wynberg. The spectacular green wooded park has earned itself the reputation as one of the best-loved outdoor theatre venues in the Cape Region. This is a diverse programme, taking the audience from the delightfully wistful Solitaire to the quirky and charming classic, Graduation Ball.

The Fugard Theatre Bioscope, in association with The Royal Opera House, The Royal Ballet and the Bolshoi Ballet Companies continue their popular World Opera and Ballet Season on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 21 January until 27 May 2012 at the beautiful Fugard Theatre.

Joburg Theatre is proud to announce the exclusive visit to South Africa of the world’s most popular dance show Burn the Floor – on The Mandela stage and for a limited season only from July 14th 2011.  

“Ten years ago I started negotiations to bring this sensational dance show to Joburg Theatre,” says CEO Bernard Jay, whose responsibility it is to source shows for the theatre from across the globe, “but the worldwide demand for its extraordinary company of champion ballroom and Latin dancers meant that South Africa had to wait its turn. However, I was determined to secure this show for our audiences. And a late-night dinner with its creator and producer, Harley Medcalf, following a performance of Burn the Floor on Broadway in October 2009, lead to a hand-shake and today’s long-awaited announcement.”

Craig Smith and Natalie Woolf, South Africa's very own reigning World Exhibition Champions, are the proud recipients of the prestigious Carl Alan Award in Performance in Theatre Arts.

Having been nominated and then shortlisted for the award, Craig and Natalie flew out to London to attend the awards ceremony and do a demonstration at the function.

Dance for All presents Two Decades, One InSPIRAtion at Artscape on 1 August 2010.

On Sunday 1 August 2010, Dance for All (DFA), under the artistic direction of Philip Boyd, will present a spectacular once-off Gala performance at the Artscape Opera House. It is entitled Two Decades, One InSPIRAtion , in celebration of twenty years of dance and in honour of the late Phyllis Spira OMSG, Prima Ballerina Assoluta and the former Assistant Artistic Director at DFA whose legacy lives on through the students and the organisation.
