World ballet stars announced for International Ballet Galas to honour Alicia Alonso
The names of the ballet stars have been announced for the five galas at the Teatro, Montecasino to honour the legendary Alicia Alonso on 28, 29 and 30 June.  Six principal dancers from the National Ballet of Cuba will be joined by dancers from other major ballet companies, representing a gathering of acclaimed stars and gold medallists from some of the world’s great international ballet competitions.

World ballet stars SA-bound for International Ballet Gala in Homage to Alicia Alonso
In the most spectacular gathering of international ballet stars ever to visit South Africa, six principal dancers from the National Ballet of Cuba will be joined by leading dancers from other major ballet companies in Johannesburg later this year for five ballet galas in homage to the legendary Alicia Alonso at the Teatro at Montecasino on 28, 29 and 30 June.

The popularity of Bollywood with its gorgeous stars, mesmerizing dancing and beautiful singing has transcended cultures so that it now has a massive following across the world. This spectacle, which has been produced by award-winning choreographer Jayesperi Moopen, debuts at the Globe Theatre from 7 to 31 March this year.

Dance Umbrella 2013: 25th Anniversary
Dance Umbrella, rather romantically, came into being on Valentine’s Day in 1989. It began as the result of an idea of two respected arts journalists, Adrienne Sichel and Marilyn Jenkins, who felt that there needed to be a ‘platform’ for contemporary dance in the country.  Now, 25 years on, Dance Umbrella has expanded enormously and has developed into one of the main platforms for new contemporary choreography and dance in Southern Africa.
